You may have heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet breakfast may not be a regular habit.

While breakfast isn’t a magic bullet, it may set you up for success for the remainder of the day.

Those who eat breakfast also tend to consume more protein, calcium, vitamin C, zinc, iron, and fiber.

Should you start eating breakfast?  Ask yourself these questions:

Do you snack at night after dinner?

Consider going to bed instead and enjoying a balanced breakfast in the morning.

Is it hard to manage your portions in the afternoons?

Starting your day with protein and fiber at breakfast can help reduce hunger later in the day.

Do you find yourself grazing throughout the day?

It’s better to mindfully eat a balanced meal than to grab random, unplanned snacks.

Are you hungry in the mornings?

Then definitely eat breakfast!  If time is the barrier, try something quick like yogurt and fruit, whole grain toast and nut butter, or consider prepping your breakfast the night before.

Eat Breakfast; Lose Weight

An extra bonus to eating breakfast, may be weight loss.  Nearly 80 percent of those in the National Weight Control Registry eat breakfast every day.  These participants have lost at least 30 pounds and maintained it for a year or more.
